Itinerary
Day 1: Muscat, Jabreen, Bahla, Nizwa
Depart from Muscat and head to Jabreen, visiting the castle widely regarded as the most beautiful in Oman. Built in the 17th century, it is renowned for its elegant architecture, intricately painted ceilings, ornate stucco work and finely carved wooden grilles.
Continue to Bahla, a historic village famous for its traditional pottery workshops and surrounded by 12 km of ancient mud walls. Nearby stands Bahla Fort, a UNESCO World Heritage site and one of the oldest and most significant forts in the country.
Arrive in Nizwa, the cultural heart of Oman. Check in to your hotel and relax for the evening. Overnight in Nizwa.
Day 2: Nizwa, Jabal Akhdar
After breakfast, visit Nizwa Fort, with its iconic 35-metre cylindrical tower, followed by time in the souq, renowned for handmade silver jewellery and traditional khanjars, the curved daggers of Oman.
Continue to Jabal Akhdar, known as the “Green Mountain”, rising over 2,000 metres in the Hajar range. Explore the terraced fields and traditional stone villages nestled in the mountainside.
Thanks to its cooler climate, the region cultivates apricots, peaches, grapes and pomegranates. In April, it is also known for the production of rose water, harvested during the short blooming season. Overnight in Jabal Akhdar.
Day 3: Jabal Akhdar, Birkat Al Mauz, Muscat
After breakfast, begin the descent towards Muscat with a stop in Birkat Al Mauz, a peaceful oasis surrounded by lush date palm groves and tranquil gardens. Walk along the ancient falaj irrigation system, a UNESCO-listed example of traditional Omani engineering that has sustained agriculture for centuries. Continue to Muscat, where you will check in to your hotel.
