From coastal traditions to mountain strongholds and healing waters, this full-day excursion reveals the quiet beauty and deep history of inland Oman.
Your tour starts with a visit to the fish market and souk in Barka, a traditional fishing village where life still follows the rhythm of the sea. From here, continue to Bait Na’am, a fortified house where Imams once stayed overnight during their travels to the interior. From Barka, the drive continues along the famous Batinah Plain, the main agricultural area of Oman.
The route passes through picturesque wadis, dry riverbeds lined with palm groves and rocky formations. You will reach the oasis town of Nakhal, nestled at the foot of the Hajjar Mountains.
Here, you will visit Nakhal Fort, an impressive structure perched on a rocky outcrop, with towers rising above the palm-lined valley. The fort offers panoramic views and a glimpse into Oman’s defensive history.
Before returning to Muscat, stop at Ain Thowarah, natural hot springs known for their therapeutic properties. The warm mineral-rich waters flow into pools surrounded by greenery, offering a peaceful moment of relaxation.
