Day 2: Muscat – Bimmah Sinkhole – Wadi Shab – Sur

After breakfast, pick up your rental car and begin your self-drive journey along the scenic coastal highway towards Sur. First stop: Bimmah Sinkhole, a natural depression filled with vivid turquoise water, surrounded by limestone cliffs. A perfect spot for photos and a refreshing dip.

Continue to Wadi Shab, one of Oman’s most beautiful wadis. Tucked deep within the mountains, it features crystal-clear pools, shaded caves and hidden waterfalls. After a short hike through palm groves, reach a secluded swimming area. For the adventurous, a swim through a small underwater cave leads to a breathtaking waterfall — a highlight of any visit to Oman.

Arrive in Sur, a historic port town known for its traditional dhow shipbuilding. In the evening, visit a protected beach to observe green sea turtles nesting (season: November–March). Depending on timing, you may witness this rare and moving ritual. Overnight in Sur.

Day 3: Sur – Masirah Island

After breakfast, drive to Shannah Port on the eastern coast. From here, take the ferry to Masirah Island, Oman’s largest island and a remote haven of untouched beauty. The island is one of the most important turtle nesting sites in the Indian Ocean and a sanctuary for migratory birds.

Spend the day exploring endless sandy beaches, abandoned fishing villages and rugged coastal landscapes shaped by wind and waves. Wild horses roam freely across the island, adding to its wild charm. Return to your hotel in the late afternoon and enjoy a peaceful evening on this off-the-beaten-path destination. Overnight on Masirah Island. (Meals included: B , L , -)

Day 4: Masirah Island – Wahiba Sands

After breakfast, return by ferry to the mainland, and head into the heart of the Wahiba Sands, a vast desert of golden dunes stretching over 180 km. As you enter the dunes by 4x4, waves of sand rise over 100 meters, creating an otherworldly landscape.

Arrive at your desert camp in the late afternoon. You’ll be welcomed with traditional Omani coffee and dates, a gesture of Bedouin hospitality. Overnight in the desert camp. (Meals included: B , - , -)

Day 5: Wahiba Sands – Wadi Bani Khalid – Nizwa

Depart for Wadi Bani Khalid, a lush oasis surrounded by palms and rocky cliffs. The wadi features natural turquoise pools fed by underground springs, ideal for a refreshing swim in nature’s embrace.

Continue to Nizwa, the cultural heart of Oman. Known for its fort, souq and deep historical roots, it offers a quiet glimpse into traditional Omani life. Overnight in Nizwa. (Meals included: B , - , -)

Day 6: Nizwa – Al Hamra – Misfat Al Abriyeen – Jabal Shams – Nizwa

After breakfast, drive to Al Hamra, a village where tradition lives on. Stop at Bait Al Safah, a restored mud house offering a glimpse into rural Omani life, where daily routines like grinding flour and preparing coffee are still carried out as they were generations ago.

Continue to Misfat Al Abriyeen, a picturesque mountain village perched on the edge of a canyon. Walk through narrow alleys, ancient terraces and stone dwellings built directly on solid rock, a living example of mountain architecture.

Ascend to Jabal Shams, the “Mountain of the Sun” and the highest peak in Oman. Stop at the edge of the “Grand Canyon”, where sheer cliffs plunge into deep gorges, one of the most spectacular views in the country. Return to Nizwa for the night. Overnight in Nizwa.

(Meals included: B , - , -)

Day 7: Nizwa – Bahla – Jabreen – Muscat

After breakfast, visit Nizwa Fort, with its iconic 35-metre cylindrical tower, followed by time in the Souq, renowned for handmade silver jewellery and traditional khanjars (curved daggers).

Stop at Bahla Fort, a UNESCO World Heritage site, surrounded by 12 km of ancient mud walls, one of the oldest and most impressive forts in Oman.

Continue to Jabreen Castle, widely considered Oman’s most beautiful fort. Built in the 17th century, it features intricately designed interiors, painted ceilings, ornate stucco work and finely carved wooden grilles, a masterpiece of Islamic art and architecture.
