Day 1: MUSCAT

Arrival in Muscat and meeting with the local assistant, transfer to the hotel. Check in at your hotel room and rest of the day at leisure to discover Muscat, a city that enchants with its beauty and unique charm. With a mix of ancient tradition and modernity, it offers breath-taking views. Its imposing mountains embrace the Arabian Sea, creating an atmosphere of serenity. Its Souq captivate with bright colours, the scent of incense and the wealth of spices. The Great Mosque of Sultan Qaboos catches the eye with its architectural magnificence. Historic forts and royal palaces tell stories of Oman's glorious past. Day 2: MUSCAT - WADI BANI AWF - SNAKE GORGE - AL HAMRA - BAHLA - NIZWA

After breakfast, depart from Muscat and head toward the Battinah region in the direction of Nakhal. From there, take a detour to Wadi Bani Awf, where you’ll begin an exciting inland journey through the Hajjar Mountain range. Follow a fascinating off-road route that offers spectacular views of towering mountains, deep canyons, and endless valleys, showcasing Oman’s stunning natural beauty.

Stop at Snake Gorge (or Snake Canyon), named for its winding shape and dramatic vertical walls. This breathtaking natural wonder provides a perfect opportunity to capture photos and immerse yourself in the serene surroundings.

Continue your journey by climbing to an altitude of over 2000 meters, enjoying panoramic views along the way. Descend to the charming village of Al Hamra, known for its immense palm groves and traditional mud-brick houses. Take a moment to admire the picturesque scenery and explore the village’s timeless charm.

Enjoy a free lunch before continuing your journey toward Nizwa. Along the way, make a photo stop at the fortified city of Bahla, a UNESCO World Heritage Site renowned for its impressive ancient walls and historical significance.

Upon arrival in Nizwa, visit this historic city, which has been the capital of the Imamate of Oman since the 9th century and is often referred to as the “pearl of Islam.” Explore the imposing fort with its iconic tower, built in the 17th century by Imam Sultan bin Saif al Yarubi, a key figure in Omani history who played a pivotal role in expelling the Portuguese from Oman. Stroll through the bustling souks, where you can browse and purchase traditional terracotta objects, silverware, spices, rosewater, and dates, offering a glimpse into the vibrant local culture. Day 3: NIZWA - IBRA - WADI BANI KHALID - WAHIBA SANDS

After breakfast, depart from Nizwa and head to Ibra, where you’ll visit the famous Women’s Market. Once reserved exclusively for women, this traditional market offers a unique opportunity to observe Bedouin women wearing traditional face masks and selling handmade crafts, fabrics, kajal (traditional eyeliner), gold and silver jewelry, and other local products. It’s a fascinating glimpse into Oman’s cultural heritage.

Next, travel to Wadi Bani Khalid, one of Oman’s most beautiful Wadis. This oasis is crossed by a perennial stream that forms small waterfalls and crystal-clear pools surrounded by lush palm trees. Take some time to relax, swim in the refreshing waters, or simply enjoy the serene natural beauty of the area.

Enjoy a free lunch before continuing your journey toward the Wahiba Sands, a vast desert of golden dunes stretching endlessly across the horizon. Arrive at the desert camp, where you’ll settle in for the evening.

In the afternoon, embark on an exciting excursion into the heart of the desert. Marvel at the ever-changing shapes of the dunes, sculpted by the wind, some of which reach heights of up to 120 meters. After several photo stops, climb to the top of a dune to witness a breathtaking sunset. The sky transforms into a kaleidoscope of colors, creating an unforgettable experience. Your drivers will offer a light snack and cool drinks as you soak in the moment. Day 4: WAHIBA SANDS - /CROSS WAHIBA DESERT - KHALUF BAY - DUQM

After breakfast, depart early in the morning to cross the stunning Wahiba Sands desert, a mesmerizing expanse of golden dunes, deep valleys, and endless horizons. This journey will provide visitors with extraordinary images of Oman’s raw natural beauty. Multiple photo stops will be made at the most picturesque locations, allowing you to capture the serene and dramatic landscapes.

Enjoy a free lunch along the way as you continue your desert crossing. The journey concludes near Qihayd, where a large settlement of Bedouin fishermen resides. From here, head south toward Khaluf, following the coastline. Along the way, you’ll encounter an area of breathtaking beauty where the white sands of the desert seamlessly blend into the crystal-clear blue waters of the sea—a truly enchanting and surreal landscape. Day 5: DUQM  

After breakfast, embark on a day dedicated to exploring the untamed beauty of nature around Duqm. Discover unexpected landscapes that showcase the wild and unspoiled charm of the region. Visit incredible lagoons teeming with birdlife, pristine white beaches, bizarre rock formations, towering cliffs, and panoramas of extraordinary beauty. There will also be opportunities for swimming in the clear waters.

Day 6: DUQM/RAS RUWAYS - RAS AL JINZ

After breakfast, depart northward toward Ras Al Jinz, following an interesting coastal route that skirts the Arabian Sea.

Pass through Bedouin settlements and charming villages, soaking in the local culture and traditions.

Make a photo stop at the salt pans near Mahoot, then continue to Ras Ruways, where you’ll visit the beautiful ochre-colored dunes that fade into the sea. These dunes sometimes compact to form unique lamellar structures, creating a surreal and captivating sight.

Enjoy a free lunch along the way. Stop at Al Khabbah to admire the dramatic cliffs before arriving at Ras Al Jinz. Check in to an eco-lodge nestled by the sea, enjoy dinner, and settle in for the night.

After dinner, embark on an exciting excursion to the turtle reserve, a protected area where Chelonias Midas turtles come ashore at night to lay their eggs. A guided tour led by resort staff will take you inside the reserve to witness this incredible natural phenomenon. (B/-/D)

 

Day 7: RAS AL JINZ - SUR - TIWI - SINKHOLE - WADI ARBEEN - MUSCAT

After breakfast, depart for Sur, the capital of the Southern Sharqiyah region and once a vital trading hub, particularly for trade with Africa. Sur was also the last outpost reached by the Portuguese.

Visit a traditional dhow factory, where these iconic Omani boats are still built entirely by hand using wood. Learn about the craftsmanship and techniques passed down through generations.

Next, head to the Ayjah area, located on a beautiful bay offering stunning views of the natural lagoon where Sur was built. Admire the historic lighthouse that stands as a symbol of the town’s maritime heritage.

Continue to Wadi Tiwi, a Wadi that winds inland between vertiginous cliffs and is fed by aquifers from the mountains. Explore the small villages nestled within this peaceful oasis, gaining insight into the rural lifestyle of the region.

Traveling northward, reach the famous Bimmah Sinkhole, a unique geological formation. This deep crater was created by the interaction of brackish water with rock components, resulting in an emerald-colored lake at its base. Enjoy a free lunch before departing for Wadi Arbeen one of Oman’s most impressive Wadis. Day 8: MUSCAT

After a leisurely breakfast, spend the day completing your exploration of Muscat, delving deeper into its cultural and architectural treasures. Begin with a visit to the magnificent Sultan Qaboos Grand Mosque, an architectural masterpiece that stands as a symbol of Oman’s rich Islamic heritage and modern elegance. Built between 1995 and 2001 under the vision of Sultan Qaboos, this iconic mosque is a feast for the senses. Marvel at its intricate design, including the world’s second-largest handwoven Persian carpet, which spans an impressive 4,200 sq. m., and the grand chandelier in the men’s prayer hall, weighing 8 tons and adorned with 1,122 sparkling lights.
