Itinerary
Tour begins with the visit of Birkat Al Mauz, an oasis village nestled at the foot of the Hajjar Mountains. Here, explore the ancient Falaj irrigation system, a UNESCO-recognised marvel of engineering that has sustained agriculture for over a thousand years. Walk among date palm groves and abandoned mud-brick homes, where history echoes in every stone.
Continue to Nizwa, the former spiritual and cultural capital of Oman. Visit the imposing Nizwa Fort, renowned for its massive 35-metre cylindrical tower and intricate underground passages. Nearby lies the vibrant Nizwa Souq, famous for its silver souvenirs, handmade khanjars and traditional pottery. This is where generations of artisans have shaped Omani identity through craft.
Proceed to Bahla, an ancient walled town famed for its traditional pottery. Explore Bahla Fort, a UNESCO World Heritage Site surrounded by 12 kilometers of mud walls, one of the oldest and most significant forts in the country.
Next, visit Jabreen Castle, often considered the most beautiful castle in Oman. Built in the 17th century, it once served as a centre of Islamic learning and governance. Admire its intricately painted ceilings, ornate wooden grilles and natural ventilation system, a masterpiece of art and science.
Along the way, stop at the ruins of old Tanuf, a medieval village destroyed during tribal conflicts. Its stone houses cling to the mountainside, standing in quiet contrast to the modern dam nearby, a powerful reminder of Oman’s enduring past and evolving present.
This journey is more than sightseeing. It’s an immersion into the culture, traditions and heritage of Oman, leaving you enriched, inspired and deeply connected.
