Jabal Shams
2 Days – 1 Night
D A Y 1 – MUSCAT / WADI BANI AWF / MISFAT / JABAL SHAMS
From Muscat, we set off for Barka before heading into the mountains and
embarking on an off-road trip to cross the Hajar Mountains via Wadi Bani Awf.
This route winds through rugged mountains, steep cliffs and small villages and
offers spectacular views. Once you reach the other side, you visit the village of
Misfat, where old houses seem to be glued to the mountainside. Traditional
Omani irrigation canals (Falaj) wind their way through the village. Continue to
Jabal Shams and enjoy the view. Overnight stay in Jabal Shams.
D A Y 2 – JABAL SHAMS / AL HAMRA / NIZWA / MUSCAT
Leaving the mountain, we stop in the village of Al Hamra, with its ancient mud
houses. Next visit to the city of Nizwa, with its historic fort and souq selling
handmade silver jewellery and traditional daggers (Khanjar). Return to Muscat.
